Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah Tower Hits 80 Floors, Set to Overtake Burj Khalifa
Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah Tower reaches 80 floors, set to surpass Burj Khalifa and become the world’s first 1 km-tall skyscraper by 2028.
Jeddah Tower under construction, poised to become the tallest building in the world, exceeding 1,000 meters in height.

Jeddah Tower, which is in Saudi Arabia, will become the tallest building in the world very soon. Its 80th floor will be finished by 2028, and it will already be more than 1,000 meters high over all the other constructions. The Dubai Burj Khalifa, which is around 172 to 180 meters shorter, will only be able to compete with Jeddah Tower in height. Therefore, it is going to be a milestone in the world of skyscrapers as it will be the first one to reach the height of one kilometer.
The construction speed around the tower has been really fast.
Come 2025; the project was again on the right path with the tower getting higher really fast—a new floor added every three to four days. The target for the 100th floor is February 2026. The Jeddah tower is one of the major construction sites embraced by the Vision 2030 program of Saudi Arabia, and it is the country's hope for a glorious future in the areas of architecture, tourism, and economic development.
Amenities and Features
The building, situated in the Jeddah Economic City, will have:
More than 160 floors
A Four Seasons Hotel with luxury apartments, serviced flats, and corporate spaces
An observation deck at the top with 360-degree views of the Red Sea and the city
Super-fast lifts that can go up and down more than 10 meters in a second
Use of eco-friendly technologies, energyefficient systems, and desert cooling
The tower, designed by Burj Khalifa's architect, Adrian Smith, still among other things, features the use of advanced engineering and, of course, the latest architectural techniques to guarantee the building's safety, comfort, and sustainability.
Future Ambitions
Saudi Arabia has also made a breakthrough by publicizing its Rise Tower plan, which is intended to be a two-kilometer-high construction, thereby, establishing a more firm kingdom's footprint in the area of global skyscraper design.
About Burj Khalifa
Having the 124th, 125th, and 148th floors as places for viewing, the Burj Khalifa, the currently highest building in the world with a total height of 828 meters, is made up of 163 floors. The building was inaugurated in 2010 and has the At.mosphere restaurant located on the 122nd floor as the luxurious dining option, more than 26,000 glass panels, and an ice-like appearance which was actually able to withstand the extremely hot weather of Dubai. The process of building halted in 2004 but continued with over 12,000 laborers being involved and the total money spent was approximately $1.5 billion.
The skyscraper competition in the Middle East is getting a new phase with the Jeddah Tower project poised to surpass Burj Khalifa, where engineering feats will be blended with ultra-modern living.
